What the job involved
- Carbon fibre strengthening to various structural elements, with adhesion testing, reporting and certification
- Waterproofing membrane removal from the terrace areas
- Grinding raised concrete joints on the rear terraces to fix level problems
- Crack injection to the Level 1 suspended kitchen slab, about 48.5 lineal metres
- Concrete cancer repairs, about 529 litres of repair material
- Structural steel plate supports to the Level 1 kitchen and carport slabs
- Hand saw cutting and core drilling for structural access, timber post and bracket work
- Project management, supervision and trade coordination
What made it hard
- High-end finishes throughout, so protection and handling of the surrounding areas mattered as much as the repair
- Tight access for materials, machinery and people
- Conditions uncovered during the work called for changes on the run: extra steel supports and additional crack repairs
- Noise and dust control next to occupied rooms
- Steel, concrete, waterproofing and engineering all on one job, so sequencing had to be right to avoid rework
Outcome
